It was described as “the podcast of the cybernetic marxists” and explored issues regarding technology\, marxist politics and economic planning and managed to build a solid community in a time when these topics were just beginning to be be discussed in leftist circles. SUMMARY:Attac Arbeitstagung "Das Öffentliche" – Welche gesellschaftlich organisierten Güter und Dienstleistungen braucht es für ein gutes Leben?
DESCRIPTION:Die Tagung beschäftigt sich mit der Frage\, welche Rolle die öffentliche Hand und der sogenannte Dritte Sektor angesichts der aktuellen Krisen spielen (sollen) und in welchem Verhältnis beide zur Zivilgesellschaft stehen. Dabei werden auch die in den letzten Jahren in diesem Feld diskutierten unterschiedlichen Ansätze zur Gestaltung des Öffentlichen wie Commons\, Fundamentalökonomie\, öffentlicher Luxus aber auch Ansätze zur Rekommunalisierung und Vergesellschaftung einbezogen. \nÖffentliche Dienstleistungen werden von Beschäftige erbracht und von Bürger*innen genutzt. Deshalb werden bei der Tagung auch deren Rollen Thema sein. Welche Mitgestaltung- und Mitbestimmungsmöglichkeiten haben sie\, wie könnten diese ausgeweitet werden und welche institutionellen Formen sind dafür denkbar? \nDie abstrakte Diskussion über die Notwendigkeit eines gut funktionierenden „Öffentlichen“ ist das eine\, was das aber in konkreten Zahlen heißt\, das andere. Wie lässt sich messen\, wie viel Ressourcen für gesellschaftlich organisierte Güter und Dienstleistungen notwendig sind? Was sagen Kennzahlen wie die Staatquote dazu aus? Und wo stößt die Messbarkeit an ihre Grenzen? Auch dies wird Thema der Tagung sein. \nDie Tagung richtet sich an Menschen\, die sich wissenschaftlich oder politisch mit dem Thema beschäftigen\, sei es eher theoretisch an einer Universität oder einem Forschungsinstitut oder eher praktisch in einer Organisation oder Initiative\, die sich mit Elementen der Daseinsvorsorge beschäftigt oder einem Verband\, der Interessensvertretung in diesem Feld betreibt. \nDie Tagung ist der Auftakt zu einer längerfristig angelegten Studie(nreihe) zum „Öffentlichen“. \nDie Teilnahme ist kostenlos\, aber eine Anmeldung ist erforderlich (siehe unten auf der Website). \nDas Event wird auf Deutsch stattfinden\, das Programm siehe hier: \n  \n\n\n\n\nFreitag 7. SUMMARY:INDEP online Workshop on Democratizing Investment
DESCRIPTION:Struggles over investment have long been struggles for control of our economies. Investment shapes the trajectory of social development: it determines which sectors grow or shrink\, influences regional development patterns\, and drives overall economic expansion or degrowth. In capitalist systems\, investment decisions are largely made in isolation by private company and bank management\, often in competition with and ignorance of each other. These decisions\, driven by profit expectations\, have far-reaching impacts on competitors\, suppliers\, and distributors\, yet remain privately controlled. This profit-centric approach leads to chronic underfunding in less profitable but socially crucial sectors such as care work\, sustainable technologies\, and public goods. It also entrenches social and regional inequalities.\nOur workshop explores how investment decisions could be democratized and redirected towards meeting all human needs within planetary boundaries. We’ve invited leading experts on the democratization and socialization of finance and investment to share their insights.
