Yousaf Nishat-Botero
Yousaf Nishat-Botero holds a PhD in Organization Studies from Bayes Business School, City, University of London and an MA in Philosophy & Contemporary Critical Theory from the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy, Kingston University. His PhD thesis titled ‘Organization, Space, Nature: Urban-agrarian Futures of Ecological Planning’ explored how democratic planning might be reframed and reimagined in this age of intensifying climate crises, and what we might learn about this from municipal/metropolitan planning bodies experimenting with elements of ecological planning. Yousaf approaches such questions in a way that is broadly aligned with research in critical management studies, at the intersections of critical theory, organisation studies, and political ecology. Some of this work on democratic economic/ecological planning can be read in academic journals like Organization and Competition & Change. Currently, Yousaf is teaching seminars on contemporary social theory at City, University of London. He is also a member of the editorial collective at ephemera, which is an independent and open access journal on theory and politics in organisation.
