Durand and Keucheyan’s Book on Ecological Planning Translated in German

Economist Cedric Durand and sociologist Razmig Keucheyan got their book “Comment bifurquer: les principes de la planification écologique” (Switching gears: The principles of ecological planning) translated into German under the title “Das Prinzip Verzweigung – Über ökologische Planung in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft” and published by Dietz Berlin.

The book is centred on ecological planning and how it could be implemented in our current context. Here’s a translated excerpt of the back cover:

How can ecological collapse be stopped when market mechanisms systematically fail? Cédric Durand and Razmig Keucheyan place ecological planning at the center of a realistic exit strategy from the climate crisis.

Based on the understanding that capitalism and ecological stability are incompatible, they argue for conscious, collective control of production, consumption, infrastructure, and resources. Against the myths of green growth and individual behavioral change, they develop the principles of democratic planning that sets priorities and politically determines societal needs.
