Kyle Thompson
I was the co-host of the General Intellect Unit podcast on cybernetic socialism in its run from 2017-2024, and covered numerous subjects about planning histories, techniques, and technologies. My work on the podcast was informed by my graduate studies at Kyoto University on the history of the Socialist Calculation Debate and my graduate research on futuring, communication, and utopia at Utrecht University. We especially focused on and helped popularize the cybernetic ideas of Stafford Beer, which I have tried to put into practice in my own organizing work.
Recently, I have been interested cultural mobilization for planning, connections between planning, imaginaries, and biodiversity, and the value of resonance for planning.
