Eskil Engström

I am a PhD candidate in Planning and Decision Analysis at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. My research focuses on the politics of green accounting, democratic and ecological planning, sustainability transitions, and the role of the state in responding to climate and environmental crises.

My doctoral work examines the politics of consumption-based greenhouse gas accounting and policy in Sweden. I also research how competing sectoral claims on bioenergy resources can be planned and coordinated to meet societal needs within ecological constraints. More broadly, I am interested in how societies can develop the knowledge, institutions, and democratic capacities needed to steer complex socio-ecological transformations.

Alongside my academic work, I have long been engaged in ecological politics and environmental activism.
