Hermann Lueer recently published a review on Jasper Bernes’ book The Future of Revolution. Communist Prospects from the Paris Commune to the George Floyd Uprising on the blog Left Wing Communism – NOT an infantile disorder. In this review he comments on Bernes’ engagement with The Fundamental Principles of Communist Distribution and Production by the Group of International Communists (GIC). He claims that Bernes’ overlooks their political depth and that labor-time accounting, far from being a mere technical device, is the material foundation of workers’ self-management — the bridge uniting production, consumption, and politics and that without it, the revolution risks sliding into bureaucracy or moralism instead of genuine proletarian emancipation.
