June 16 to 17, a workshop in French entitled La planification écologique face à la contrainte de son financement: penser la planification financière écologique (Ecological Planning in the Face of Funding Constraints: Rethinking Ecological Financial Planning) will be held at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Montpellier.
The organizers, Nicolas Bédu, Léo Malherbe, and the Key Initiative Politiques Publiques de Transition, have circulated a call for papers requesting 1500-word abstracts by May 31st. They plan to publish a special issue of the Revue de la régulation based on the papers presented at the workshop.
Here’s a translated excerpt of the call for papers:
Green financial planning is a cornerstone of the green transition and a component of green planning; it cannot be separated from their challenges or constraints. For example, ecological financial planning must be designed to meet the needs of a just ecological and social transition. Arrangements and coordination must be put in place so that it supports the transformations that will affect people in their work and employment practices, in how they live, and in how they travel.
This call for papers aims to provide an analytical characterization of this
ecological financial planning. It seeks to offer theoretical and empirical insights into the various financing solutions for the ecological transition—whether existing or yet to be created—as well as their effectiveness, their feasibility or their consistency. In short, the aim is to consider the possible forms and mechanisms of operation for a viable monetary and financial system in an economy undergoing a planned transition toward a post-growth model.
