First National School of Self-Management “José Abelli”

The first National School of Self-Management “José Abelli” will take place from Thursday 26 to Saturday 28 November 2026 at the José Carlos Mariátegui School in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The initiative is organised by the Federation of Self-Managed Cooperatives of the Argentine Republic (FEDECARA) and the Open Faculty programme at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA).
The three-day residential programme will bring together worker cooperatives and worker-recovered enterprises from across Argentina. It aims to strengthen their capacities in cooperative management, production, commercialisation and organisational sustainability, combining political and theoretical education with practical experience.
The programme will address the history and principles of self-management, public policy and legal frameworks, democratic decision-making, the distribution of surpluses, conflict resolution, industrial organisation and cooperative administration. It will bring together academic knowledge and the experience of workers involved in self-managed enterprises.
The school is part of a broader exchange between initiatives supporting worker self-management in Latin America, building on experiences in Brazil and the International Workers’ Economy Meetings.
