Prof. Robin Hahnel is Professor Emeritus of economics at American University and has spent much of his career developing a “Participatory Economy” (also known as “Participatory Economics” or “Parecon”) as an alternative socioeconomic model to capitalism. The model of a Participatory Economy is based around democratic planning between federations of self-managing workers and consumers’ councils. In his talk, Prof. Hahnel will introduce the concept and discuss its potential and the challenges it faces.
Hosted by the Cambridge Society for Economic Pluralism (CSEP), a student group set up post-2008 to explore heterodox approaches and interdisciplinary connections to economics.
