Hermann Lueer has recently published a review of the german translation of Peter Hudis’ “Marx Concept of the Alternative to Capitalism” (German title: “Jenseits des Kapitalismus. Kritik und Alternative bei Marx“), which has recently been published by Red & Black Books.
Below is a translated excerpt of the review:
Criticism of capitalism and the question of alternatives are inextricably linked. They are two sides of the same coin. Those who view poverty as a consequence of market failure seek alternatives for market regulation. Those who see it as an inevitable consequence of capitalist relations of production question the market itself. Any alternative to capitalism is therefore only as viable as the underlying explanation of the capitalist relations of production to which it is intended to be an alternative.
