Nicolas D Villarreal, the creator of Pre-History of an Encounter on Substack, has published The Inexorable Fall, a book that argues that Karl Marx was correct in arguing that capitalism’s decline and its replacement by socialism is inexorable.
A summary of the book can be found below:
The culmination of the past six years of my economic and social research and theorizing, The Inexorable Fall is an attempt to articulate just whether and how Marx was right about capitalism’s decline arriving with the “inexorability of a law of Nature.” It is a collection of essays, some previously published some not, which argues the declining rate of profit and rate of capitalist consumption, as well as ever rising social atomization, are in fact existential problems for liberal capitalist societies. I end with a section that speculates on the adaptations required to overcome these challenges, including within a socialist future
