Time updated for INDEP online Workshop on Democratizing Investment

The time for our online workshop on “Democratizing Investment” has been updated. The old time was from 3pm-7pm CET on Friday the 21st, with which it was unfortunately also promoted in our last newsletter. The updated time is 3:30pm-6:15pm CET – the day stays the same, so it’s only a small update and the new time fits into the old timeslot as well. We’ll also notify everyone who has so far signed up for the workshop about the small change. If you haven’t yet, please register here to participate.

The workshop is split into two parts, so feel free to join for only one if you can’t make it to the full workshop:

First session: Socializing investment (3.30-4.45pm CET)
– Christoph Sorg (Humboldt University/INDEP): Introduction: Finance as a form of planning and the legacy
of struggles over investment
– J W Mason (CUNY – City University of New York): Socializing Finance
– Sushovan Dhar (CADTM – Committe for the Abolition of Illegitimate Debt): How to socialize the banking sector and abolish debt
Moderator: Eric Meier (INDEP)

Second session: Cases of democratic investment (5-6.15pm CET)
– Mike McCarthy (UC Santa Cruz): Democratic Finance and the case of Californian Public Banks
– Melanie Brusseler (Common Wealth): Democratic De-risking
– Lavinia Steinfort (TNI – Transnational Institute): A Global Public Banking Ecosystem
Moderator: Christoph Sorg (Humboldt University/INDEP)
