Talk by Heide Lutosch: Feminist Planning – Perspectives on a Postcapitalist Society

November 7 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm UTC+1

This event will take place in German.

The description has been taken from the event website and translated into English.

Friedrich Engels once wrote, regarding the structure of gender relations, that under capitalism one could only make assumptions of a “negative nature.” By this he meant that meaningful reflection on the future is largely limited to “what will fall away.” Fortunately, Heide Lutosch does not adhere to this ban on imagery and has been exploring alternative social models and democratic planning from a feminist perspective for several years now.

In her talk, she will explain why collectively reflecting on desirable social alternatives is not utopian daydreaming, but rather necessary theoretical groundwork for a left-wing counter-narrative that can convince as many people as possible. She will also highlight the fundamental issues at the heart of the current debate on democratic economic and societal planning and explain how a feminist perspective can bring these issues into sharper focus and contribute to their resolution. Following the lecture, there will be a short break, after which an audience discussion will take place, leading into an evening at the bar.
