This will be an open-ended discussion hosted by Leone on the econophysics server with David Zachariah on his recently drafted paper, “Socialist Planning in the Era of Climate Change“, which explores the question of realizing a feasible and stable implementation of economic planning. Abstract of the paper:
This working paper argues that planning should be restored at the center of socialist economics as a means of securing the material well-being of a population under resource limits. Specifically, the planned sector should be concerned with the provision of essential and vital products. We propose how planning institutions should be built upon the autonomous regulation of production by enterprises, in order to overcome the information and incentive problems that emerged from historical experiences with economic planning.
